MOP MOP

Mop Mop is the project of Italian multi-instrumentalist and producer Andrea Benini, who has spent more than two decades crafting a hypnotic cocktail of tropical percussion, funk, and vintage-inspired grooves. His signature “Voodoo Jazz” fuses elements of jazz with Afrobeat and the cinematic soundtracks of 1950s and ’60s Italian cinema, creating a distinctive postmodern soundscape.

Together with his electronic trio and the charismatic voice of Trinidadian poet Anthony Joseph — whose performances evoke legends such as Gil Scott-Heron — Benini conjures an atmosphere that is at once soulful, eccentric, and deeply rooted in Afro-Caribbean rhythms.

Like Sun Ra, Mop Mop transports audiences to imaginary worlds through sound, while new visions are already taking shape in the studio: the group is currently working on fresh material that continues to expand its unmistakable, exotic groove.
