Robert Soko (BalkanBeats Inc./BA/D)
On September 12, Robert Soko brings his legendary party series Balkan Beats to Gretchen: a night where, since the late 1990s, Balkan brass, Eastern European pop, and driving club rhythms have collided on dancefloors.
Back in the late ’90s, when Berlin was still reinventing itself and clubs were more promise than business model, Robert Soko began building something that would grow into its own universe: music from the former Yugoslavia, Roma brass, turbo-folk, Eastern European pop—mixed with breakbeats, hip-hop, and electronic sounds. Loud, excessive, emotional.
Balkan Beats has always also been a story of diaspora culture: music shaped by homesickness and excess, by political rupture and pure escapism. It was never about museum-like preservation, but about friction—about what happens when sounds collide and refuse to sit still.
The phrase “Jebo te Kunst” was never a marketing slogan, but an act of defiance—pushing back against elitist ideas of culture and the notion that certain sounds only belong in concert halls. In 2026, that attitude feels more relevant than ever.
For this event we offer discounted tickets to give people with less money still access to culture. These quotas are limited and only available at TixforGigs. We trust in your self-assessment: If you can, please book standard tickets and leave the reduced tickets to those who have to save money at the moment.
