With this blend of energy, emotion, and playful lightness, pianist Neil Cowley, bassist Rex Horan, and drummer Evan Jenkins have redefined what a jazz piano trio can be, leaving a lasting mark on the British post-jazz movement.

Their seventh studio album, Entity, was released in 2024, reuniting the band after a seven-year hiatus. The subsequent tour last year proved that the trio’s magic remains undiminished. Entity doesn’t just look back; it brings together everything that defines their unique sound – head-nodding grooves, compelling melodies, and profound emotional depth.

Neil Cowley himself has had a remarkable career: a child prodigy performing classical concerts across London, before diving into soul, funk, and R&B. In 2005 he formed the trio, releasing six acclaimed albums in just ten years, from the award-winning debut Displaced to the celebrated concept album Spacebound Apes. Alongside the trio, he has collaborated with artists such as Adele, Emeli Sandé, Birdy, and Michael Kiwanuka, leaving his mark on global hits like Rolling in the Deep with his distinctive piano playing.

After a successful solo phase exploring electronics, ambient, and neoclassical music, Cowley returned in 2024 with Horan and Jenkins, proving that the trio’s flame burns brighter than ever.
