Behind POiSON GiRL FRiEND is Japanese musician, singer, and producer nOrikO. Raised between Tokyo, Brazil, France, and London, she weaves a rich tapestry of influences into her music – from classical compositions and Brazilian rhythms to French chanson, British new wave, and the electronic sounds of the ’90s.

Since the 1990s, nOrikO has been releasing genre-defying tracks under the POiSON GiRL FRiEND moniker. Her early work on the Japanese label Nippon Columbia is now regarded as a defining influence on experimental pop.

Her sound drifts between trip-hop, electropop, and experimental electronica, shaped by her delicate, almost weightless vocals and an atmospheric mix of melancholic beats and playful lightness.
